Mackay Sugar Announces Start Dates for 2025 Crushing Season

Following an intensive maintenance period, Mackay Sugar is pleased to announce the anticipated commencement dates for the 2025 crushing season across our three mills.

The schedule has been determined in consultation with CANEGROWERS, the Queensland Cane Regional Advisory (QCAR) group, and Independent Bargaining Representatives (IBRs). The start dates for each factory are as follows:

  • Farleigh Factory – 10 June 2025

  • Racecourse Factory – 12 June 2025

  • Marian Factory – 17 June 2025

As with every season, these dates remain subject to change depending on weather conditions and the results of upcoming steam trials. Trials are scheduled to take place between the last week of May and the first week of June.

Mackay Sugar Chief Executive Officer, Carl Morton, acknowledged the collective effort behind preparing for the season.

"Our team, including employees and contractors, have worked tirelessly over the past few months to complete vital capital and maintenance projects. Their dedication ensures that our factories are well-positioned to begin crushing on schedule. We are grateful for their commitment and professionalism.

Mr. Morton also extended a message to the broader sugar industry:

"On behalf of everyone at Mackay Sugar, I’d like to wish all growers, employees, contractors and industry partners a safe and successful 2025 crushing season. Your ongoing dedication is the backbone of our industry, and together,  we're committed to delivering improved performance, building on how we work together and achieving results."
