Mackay Sugar provides an update on fire
Following up on my communications on Friday 3rd October, regarding the minor fire atop the roof at our Marian Factory, please see update below:
Upon inspection, it was found that no critical infrastructure or equipment was damaged in the fire.
Power was restored to all services in the mill on Saturday
Crushing recommenced in the early hours of Sunday morning
There are no ongoing impediments to operations due to the fire, and crushing has resumed as normal
The cause of the fire is under investigation and we will take steps to mitigate the risk moving forward
The safety of our people and the continuity of our operations, remain our highest priorities. We commend the prompt and professional response of our team and emergency services in managing the situation effectively on Friday, and the excellent teamwork across Mackay Sugar over the weekend to resume operations.
Mackay Sugar continues to operate as scheduled and remains committed to delivering a successful season.
